Eina artificial turf pitch is located in Vestre Toten, Norway. The sports park features several pitches used for both training sessions and matches. The lighting for the full-size (11-a-side) pitch was delivered as a complete solution by our subsidiary, Lyskomponenter, using fixtures from SLC.
Eina football pitch
SLC SKY
On this 11-a-side football pitch, the lighting has been designed using 12 SLC SKY luminaires.
Particular emphasis was placed on:
Illuminance and uniformity: Adequate lux levels to meet current standards and requirements.
Glare control: Luminaire positioning that reduces the risk of disturbing glare for players and spectators.
Energy efficiency: SLC Sky is developed using modern technology, providing low power consumption and a long service life.
Control systems: The ability to adjust lighting levels according to usage – whether for events, training sessions, or matches.
Good lighting is essential.
The lighting should be even and glare-free to ensure good visual comfort and prevent shadowed areas. Typically, 4–6 lighting masts are recommended, strategically positioned to achieve optimal light coverage.
By choosing energy-efficient solutions with control systems (e.g. timers or motion sensors), both power consumption and light pollution are reduced.
More use, less consumption.
Sports facilities are meant to be used – preferably as much as possible and throughout the entire year. At the same time, it is important to ensure that operation does not require more electricity than necessary. Modern LED lighting uses far less energy and is therefore particularly well suited for outdoor use, where there is no benefit from the heat generated by traditional fluorescent lights. In addition, LEDs have a significantly longer lifespan than older light sources.
With a good control system, you can also help ensure that energy is not wasted. This prevents the lights from being left on when the facility is not in use. The system can be controlled either individually for each unit or collectively (broadcast). With individual control of the floodlights, it is possible to illuminate only the part of the facility that is in use – for example, just half of a football pitch. The lighting can also be controlled via an app, making it easy to adjust light levels as needed for events, training sessions, and matches.
The delivery was well organized and the collaboration seamless.
“It was the first time we carried out a project like this sports pitch, but it was easy to get familiar with it. The delivery was clear and well structured, and we had good communication with Lyskomponenter throughout the process,” says Thomas Lønstad of AlfaElkida AS.
