The Light Group delivered 583 metres of SLC Neon FullFlex.The facility is operated by the regional railway Thurbo, with maintenance carried out by SBB, and it handles the commissioning and servicing of 329 new single-deck Flirt Evo regional trains for SBB and its subsidiaries RegionAlps and Thurbo.
Thurbo invested CHF 18.4 million in the upgrade. The hall was rebuilt in timber construction and extended to almost 100 metres so it can accommodate the four-car Flirt Evo trains. A rooftop photovoltaic system of 866 modules produces close to 400 MWh per year — roughly the annual electricity consumption of 150 households — underlining the project's focus on sustainable, energy-efficient solutions.
Continuous linear light
The 583 metres of SLC Neon FullFlex create an even, glare-free line of light that follows the lines of the building and supports the technicians working above, below and alongside the trains. The continuous run complements the modern timber architecture and gives the maintenance hall a clean, cohesive appearance, while standing up to the demands of a busy industrial environment.
The facility was officially opened on 1 November 2025, drawing around 4,000 visitors on its open day, and will remain a key part of the Flirt Evo programme over the coming decade.
